A Sierra Leonean Rapper, Singer and Song Writer, Alhaji Amadu Bah popularly known as ‘Boss LAJ’, has on Friday 17 March 2023, sentenced to 9 years’ imprisonment by High Court Judge, Justice Adrian Fisher. The Judge also ordered him to pay compensation to the victims in the sum of forty thousand Leones (Le40, 000.00) new money.
The controversial musician Boss LA was found guilty on Monday, 13 March 2023 on all four counts of charges levied against him, which include robbery and assault contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
It was alleged that in August 2022, Boss LA broke out a fight at the Leonco Fuelling Station at Congo Cross in the west of Freetown where he beat up the pump attendant and got away with her sales.
Before his sentencing, LAJ accepted responsibility for the crimes he was convicted of and pleaded for mercy. He told the Judge “This has been the longest 9 months of my life”
“I am not a thief, I am a giver, I don’t take from people. I have learnt my lesson”
“I stand before not as LAJ the icon, but as Alhaji Amadu Bah, a human being. A human being who makes mistakes, a human being who hangs out with the wrong people, a human being who was at the wrong place at the wrong time,”
“I a say sorry to my fans, I say sorry to my family, I say sorry to the attendants. I take full responsibility of my action. I have learnt my lesson” Being famous, being a musician has caused me so much trouble. I just want to live, I am dying to live”
He acknowledged the negative impact of his actions on the victims and the Leonco Petrol Station and apologized for his behaviour. But despite he shown remorse and asked for forgiveness, Justice Adrian Fisher slams on him 9 years imprisonment.
