Dr. Shekou M. Sesay is a Physician, Philanthropist, and Businessman. He received his Medical Degree and Master of Public Health degree from more house School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He also trained as a Pediatrician at this prestigious institution.
Dr. Sesay is the Founder and CEO of Peachtree Pediatric Urgent Care in Suwanee, Georgia, which provides urgent care services to children in the Atlanta metropolitan area. He is also a successful real estate investor in both the United States and in Sierra Leone.
In 2008, Dr. Shekou Sesay and his wife Dr. Fatu Forna Sesay co-founded the non-profit Mama-Pikin Foundation, which works to improve the health of women, children, and families in Sierra Leone. The foundation supports hospitals, clinics and communities in multiple districts in Sierra Leone, and was recently featured in CNN’s ‘Inside Africa’ series for its work in improving the health of women and children.
In 2020, The Mama-Pikin Foundation received a $4 million grant to support the Ministry of Health to train the first set of doctors as specialists in Pediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynecology in Sierra Leone.
From 2017 to 2018, Dr. Sesay served as a Consultant Pediatrician for UNICEF and the Ministry of Health in Sierra Leone to establish the country’s first Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Ola During Children’s Hospital in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Dr. Sesay was born in New York City, but grew up in Sierra Leone. He attended college at the University of Maryland at College Park and medical school at More house School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed residencies in Pediatrics and Preventive Medicine at the More house School of Medicine. Dr. Sesay is a Pediatrician, who is board-certified in Urgent Care Medicine by the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine (ABUCM).
Dr. Sesay worked for Children’s’ Healthcare of Atlanta at their Scottish Rite hospital and numerous urgent care canters across the Atlanta metro area. He served as Staff Pediatrician for Kaiser Permanente at their Snellville and Southwood locations.
Dr. Sesay is married to his high school sweetheart, who is an Obstetrician/Gynecologist and they have four children. The couple founded the non-profit organization called The Mama-Pikin Foundation, whose mission is to improve the lives of women and children in Sierra Leone.
Due to his service to humanity and his heart of given, he is been prevail upon by his people to contest for Honourable Member of Parliament Constituency 045 Koinadugu District under the opposition party, All Peoples Congress (APC).
Dr. Sesay contribution to the said constituency cannot be over emphasised, particularly in Health care delivery, education, Tourism, agriculture among others.
Dr. Sesay is the son of retired United Nations diplomat, former minister, former Member of Parliament and an educationist Dr. Shekou M. Sesay Sr.
