You will all recall that when Peter Bayuku Konteh came back from Italy with a Project call Little Steps, he was a man of the people. That project sold him out to some extent that, he was call a Savior and a philanthropist even though the project was fully financed by his Italian Friends. Through that little Steps Project, he succeeded in building a Primary School, Health Center, A Church, Mosque and a recreation center in his hometown (Yagala). He was never a politician by then, but because of those achievements through the Little Steps Project, his people asked him to join politics. At first, he was not interested but after being convinced by his people, he accepted and started by running for the position of Council chairman for Koinadugu District which he won. He was loved by all Koinaduguans especially Paramount Chiefs across the District. Things started going bad with him in the council with his councilors to the extent that 80% of his councilors filed a petition against him, but because he was loved by his people, especially the Limbas, they stood very firm in support of him to retain power as Council chairman. In his second term, he also started having serious problems with some Paramount Chiefs all centered around him being arrogant and disrespectful to elders. A reason all Paramount Chiefs also signed a petition against him and as a result of that, another Koinaduguan by the name of Sheku Kamara was forced to stand against him for the APC symbol and when Sheku Kamara actually stood against him, he won the symbol and Peter Bayuku Konteh because he was not satisfied, ran as in independent candidate and lost the elections to Sheku Kamara. After his lost, he went through lots of humiliations and out of sympathy and because Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma by then wanted to include a Limba man from Koinadugu in his cabinet, he appointed him as Minister of Tourism. As a minister of Tourism, his first challenge with Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma was when he had a misunderstanding with his PS and he single handedly sacked his PS without following due diligence. When Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma was informed about it, he told Peter Bayuku Konteh that, sacking of PS has a procedure and that he was not suppose to do such and therefore ask Peter Bayuku Konteh to reinstate his PS. Peter Bayuku Konteh said he was not going to reinstate him and that he could prefer to resign. Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma therefore asked him to make a decision and he decided to resign and told the public that he resigned because of health issues. This was how he parted ways with Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma and later, he also resigned from APC and Joined NGC, he also left NGC and joined SLPP in the re-run (Run off) because he knew that, Maada Bio was going to win. When Maada Bio won, he made him Minister of Trade and later moved him to Minister of Works and Public Assets. From then he became so hostile to his people. He became a politician that did all he could to divide his hometown and family. He sorrounded himself with people who could not tell him the hard fact. The people around him only know how to support him in dividing his family members and disrespecting his elders in the name of power and accumulated wealth. Of course, those around him are well-known and might only be digging holes for themselves and Children.A reason that has led him to his downfall. Presently, he is not in speaking terms with over ten of his direct family members and not in speaking terms with hundreds of others within Yagala village (His hometown) and Koinadugu District. He actually succeeded in using his people under the disguise of a philanthropist, and later showcase his selflessness and ungratefulness.
His Limba people had for far long written him off their list of serious Limba people and politicians. Only few are following him for their selfish gains.The Limbas especially those from Wara Wara Yagala and Bafodia were quick to take not of his tendencies. For the fact that he failed to keep the people of Yagala and his family United, they hold no respect and trust for him anymore. Even his biological brothers and sisters don’t come close to him of recent. His people have despised him because he only knows how to divide them and not how to unite them anymore. He is no longer politically useful. Recently, President Bio could not include him in his Cabinet because maybe he too could not find him worthy the task. A reason he came back home so disgruntled and embarked on demolishing of some structures and removal of Solar panels and furniture from the primary school and Teachers’ Quarters some of his Italians friends build through him in his hometown (Yagala village). The only person that will doubt the contempt Peter Bayuku Konteh is facing from his people are those who have not actually interacted with him on official and family matters. He is so devilish in his reactions. A man who was suppose to reconcile with people and retire honorably has engaged in acts that will bring him down.
