Newly elected executive of the Sierra Leone Reporters Union, led by President Yeanor Esther Kabia, visited the Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) at its Tengbeh Town Headquarters, Freetown.
During the visit, President Kabia introduced her team to the FIA Director, David Borbor and stressed the union’s commitment to the welfare and professional growth of reporters across Sierra Leone. She praised the agency’s efforts in combating financial crimes and controlling the flow of illicit money.
President Kabia mentioned the mutual benefits of a partnership between the SLRU and the Agency and requested specialized training in financial crime reporting to better equip reporters in Sierra Leone.
Director David Borbor welcomed the SLRU Executive, describing them as a dynamic and energetic team. He encouraged the Executive to adopt an open-door policy with reporters nationwide and to be fair and flexible in their interactions, adding, “this is a litmus test in your leadership journey.”
Director Borbor expressed eagerness to work with the SLRU Executive, underscoring the vital role of reporters in supporting the agency’s mission to tackle financial crimes. He looked forward to a productive partnership and effective collaboration.
