The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) an institution established to manage and prevent disasters in the country has revealed that a total number of 167 buildings have collapsed so far in the country, leading to the loss of lives and properties.
It’s further indicated that, 27 flooding incidents in 10 districts have been reported leaving about 7,324 hectares of farmland under water in Bonthe district among others.
The sad reality is that the NDMA is poorly equipped and lacks the necessary skills and expertise to manage and handle disaster issues in the country. Is the government serious about protecting the lives of its citizens? I don’t think so. Something is wrong and must be corrected. We demand more.
