Hon. PC Alie Marah Hosts Egyptian Ambassador in Koinadugu District

The Egyptian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Rasha Soliman Mohi Eldin Soliman, has paid a historic visit to Koinadugu District, becoming the first Egyptian envoy to officially visit the district.

The ambassador received a grand traditional welcome in Kabala, where she was jointly hosted by Paramount Chief Member of Parliament (PCMP) Alie Balansama Marah of Sengbeh Chiefdom and Paramount Chief Gbawuru Kondewulai Mansaray of Wara Wara Yagala Chiefdom. The event attracted local authorities, traditional leaders, students, cultural groups, and community stakeholders who gathered to welcome the distinguished guest.

The visit highlighted the longstanding spirit of unity that exists among the people of Koinadugu. Local leaders reflected on the historical relationship between the Limba and Kuranko communities, tracing it back to an era when Pa Kabala of Wara Wara Yagala Chiefdom invited a chief from Sengbeh Chiefdom to settle in Kabala and allocated land for his people. Since then, both communities have coexisted peacefully, fostering strong bonds of brotherhood, cooperation, and mutual respect.

As part of the traditional reception, the ambassador was presented with kola nuts in calabashes and live fowls, symbolic gifts that represent hospitality, friendship, and respect within the district’s cultural heritage. Traditional dancers also entertained the delegation, showcasing the rich cultural diversity of Koinadugu.

Speaking during the ceremony, Ambassador Soliman expressed appreciation for the warm reception and exceptional hospitality extended to her and her delegation. She commended the people of Koinadugu for preserving their culture and maintaining the spirit of unity that characterizes the district.

Discussions during the visit focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and the Arab Republic of Egypt, promoting development cooperation, and exploring opportunities for partnership in sectors that could benefit communities across Koinadugu District.

The visit is widely regarded as a significant milestone in the relationship between Egypt and Koinadugu, with expectations that it will open new avenues for collaboration, mutual understanding, and sustainable development.

Residents described the ambassador’s visit as a moment of pride for the district and a demonstration of Koinadugu’s growing importance in fostering international partnerships.
