The Sierra Leone Police Hospital in Bo received a substantial consignment of essential, life-saving medicines this week in a delivery police leadership says targets both officer welfare and public health needs across the south.
Assistant Superintendent of Police John Mumuneh Konteh, Deputy Medical Superintendent of the Police Hospital, transported the drugs from Freetown and supervised the handing over. The consignment arrived with an authenticated document signed and stamped, meeting SLP administrative requirements for transparency and record management.
ASP Konteh said the supply reflects Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu’s continued commitment to strengthen healthcare within the force. “Under the leadership of the IGP, significant attention is being directed toward enhancing the operational capacity of police medical facilities nationwide,” Konteh stated. He noted that a healthy workforce is central to effective policing and national development, and that the drugs will benefit officers, their dependants, and members of the public who access care at the facility.
Regional Police Commander South, Assistant Inspector General Andrew Mustapha Kamara, welcomed the delivery as a timely intervention for the region. He said the medicines will improve the hospital’s ability to provide quality treatment and commended the IGP for prioritizing the health needs of personnel and surrounding communities.
The Police Hospital Bo serves SLP personnel and their families, while also providing medical services to residents from neighboring communities. Hospital officials expect the new stock to boost capacity to respond to patients and reduce treatment delays.
As the drugs were received and documented, police officials presented the handover as a practical example of the IGP’s stated focus on welfare, accountability, and service. For patients at the facility, the delivery represents expanded access to essential treatment in Southern Sierra Leone.
