In a significant step towards enhancing the infrastructure and educational environment at the Albert Academy, a historic contract was signed on Monday, 21st August 2023, between the Albert Academy Alumni Association and ONYX Construction Company.
The ceremony, attended by esteemed Alumni Members and top management personnel from ONYX Construction Company, marked a crucial milestone in the school’s journey towards transformation.
The inception of this pivotal project traces back to the Albert Academy’s 117th Anniversary celebrations, led by the distinguished Mrs. Zainab Kabba, who holds the distinction of being the first woman chairperson to lead an anniversary committee for the Albert Academy. Mrs. Kabba, as the visionary chair, played an instrumental role in not only conceiving the project but also diligently mobilizing funds to initiate its implementation.
Her commitment and determination, alongside her dedicated team, pushed for in the official signing of the contract on the 21st of August.
The roots of the pavement project delve deep into the Strategic Plan program crafted during the tenure of the Immediate Past President, Mr. Bismark Coker.
This strategic blueprint, akin to a guiding bible for the institution, identified the pavement project as a priority initiative.
The collaboration between Mr. Coker, the 117th Anniversary Committee chaired by Mrs. Kabba, the Strategic Planning Committee, the Interim Caretaker Committee and the general membership of Alumni Association has sowed the seeds for a transformative journey. The project, slated to commence on the 1st of September and conclude on the 31st of December 2023, holds the promise of rejuvenating Albert Academy as a beacon of educational excellence.
The Albert Academy has carved a distinguished legacy, nurturing and producing outstanding individuals who have left an indelible mark on society.
With strong ties to the United Methodist Church and a unified zeal amongst the Alumni Association, the Albert Academy stands poised to regain its former glories and contribute significantly to Sierra Leone’s educational landscape.
As the project unfolds, the message resounds: “Esse Quam Videri” – rather to be than to seem.
The time has come for the Albert Academy to flourish anew, drawing academicians and supporters alike in pursuit of a better future.
