The Former Deputy Youth League President of the All People’s Congress Party (APC), who is also a member of the second highest organ of the party, the National Advisory Committee(NAC), Madam Aminata Bangura, has stated that; it is only with Dr Samura Kamara as President that the economic woes Sierra Leone is dealing with will be addressed with prudent economic policies.

In an exclusive chat, Ms Bangura, said that she sees Dr Samura as a politically savvy person with the technical know-how from his several years as a Financial Secretary, Finance Minister, Bank Governor and an international financial expert that can rescue the economy from the terrible state it has been plunged over the past five odd years. ” Dr Samura Kamara knows the economic problems that are currently affecting the livelihoods of our people”, adding that currently our local currency is devalued against the USD with inflation running at triple fights”, she said.

The soft-spoken entrepreneur, therefore, called on all former aspirants for the flagbearers of the APC party to join ranks with Dr Samura Kamara to mount a vigorous campaign so that the APC can come back to power. “They just need to take the example of Honourable Alimamy Petito Koroma who recently joined Dr. Samura Kamara in Kambia District on a campaign spree. That is the spirit of oneness we desire to see in the party”, Ms Bangura emphasized.

When asked whether the June 24 Presidential Elections will go into a second round, the unassuming but very focused NAC member just smiled and optimistically said” I don’t foresee that at all. it’s only former presidents Kabbah and Ernest Koroma that Sierra Leoneans voted for in first rounds to earn them their above 55% because late president Kabbah ended the war and president Koroma maintained the peace where his predecessor left and focused on development and infrastructure”.

Ms Bangura further stated that the reason why Dr Samura Kamara is expected to triumph in the first ballot is that President Bio has failed to build on the peace and security he inherited. “I do not doubt that Dr Samura will beat Bio by 57% because the people are tired, are suffering. They need change and Dr. Samura Kamara is that change agent”, she stated.

Commenting on the relationship between Chief Alhaji Sam Sumana and Dr Samura Kamara, Ms Bangura said bridges have been amended, and assured that she would request this writer to join her to visit “Uncle Sam” as she respectfully called Chief Alhaji Samuel Sam Sumana, to pay courtesy respect and to join hands with the leadership of the party in entreating Chief Alhaji Sam Sumana to continue to play that pivotal and central role for the APC to come back to power. “I have a lot of respect for him by him being the former vice-president of our country and a proud member of our party”.

Ms Bangura called on President Bio to preside over peaceful elections and respect the will of the people. She also called on the international community to continue to be present in the country to forestall any attempt at rigging the elections which may have the potential to create chaos and instability.

Equally so, Ms Bangura used the opportunity in calling on all APC supporters and sympathizers to be peaceful before, during and after the elections whilst calling on them to come out in their massive numbers to vote for Dr Samura and get the Bio government out.
