Sierra Leone’s leading Sports Betting and Lottery Company, Mercury International on Monday, 2nd March 2026, paid out over Le 20 million (Le 20 billion old Leones) to winners of both Bookmakers (Football) and Online football betting.
Over 30,000 winners across the country received the winnings at the Company’s main payout centre at Walpole Street, in Freetown as the jam-packed centre was greeted with joy.
The double winning is considered as one of the biggest payouts this year by the Sports Betting leader and according to Alhaji Komba, Public Relations Manager of Mercury International, this is one of the largest payouts for both football and online, combined this year and it came just last month when the company made another huge payout on the Mega Long List which ran from Thursday, 5 February 2026, to Monday, 10 February 2026.
One of the biggest individual winners, Alpha Sesay, a petty trader who resides in Kissy said he staked Le 20 on 25 football teams and won Le 95,000 before tax.
“The feeling of winning such a huge amount at this time is very good,” Sesay said. “It makes me very happy. It will change my life and take me a long way.”
“I will continue to play because I want to win more. I want to win big, and I believe I will if I keep playing,” he added.
Noel Horton, Mercury International’s Operations Department, said this is another huge winning payout and it came just after we made over Le8 million (Le8 billion old Leones) payout to more than 5,000 winners in February.
