SALONE ADVENTURE CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY

Salone Adventures, a travel and tourism company, celebrated this year’s International Museum Day with the theme: ‘Sustainability’ and β€˜wellbeing’. The day has been celebrated since 1977. It is an occasion to raise awareness of the importance of museums in the development of society.

As part of their celebration, they took pupils from the WAM Samaria primary school on a conducted tour of the Sierra Leone National Museum. The education officer of the museum welcomed the Salone Adventures team and pupils at the Museum compound.

Giving a background of the museum and its importance before embarking on the tour, Olivette Barrett said this was a great opportunity for the pupils to learn about the preservation of cultural heritage and the importance of sustainability in tourism. She thanked Salone Adventures for the initiative.

A member of Salone Adventures Mr Mohamed Murtala Kamara, emphasized the need for sustainability in tourism, stating that it was important to preserve the environment and cultural heritage for future generations. He also commended the pupils from WAM primary school for their enthusiasm and interest in learning about their country’s history.

The celebration of International Museum Day by Salone Adventures is a great initiative that promotes cultural heritage preservation and tourism sustainability. Kamara’s statement highlights the importance of preserving cultural heritage and history.

β€œThe Sierra Leone National Museum is not just a building, but a repository of the country’s rich cultural identity and traditions,” Kamara said.

He emphasizes that knowing one’s history is crucial for understanding the present and shaping the future.

By celebrating International Museum Day with the theme of sustainability and well-being, Salone Adventures is promoting the value of cultural heritage preservation and sustainable tourism practices.
