Rokel Commercial Bank has become the first bank to deploy a modern banking facility in the Mountain Rural District of the Western Area. The historic ceremony which took place on Monday, 6th November 2022 at Leicester Junction, on the precincts of Peak Energy Gas Station saw the official unveiling of a brand new state-of-the-art Automated Teller Machine (ATM).
The Leicester event attracted several distinguished personalities including the banks’ Managing Director, Dr Walton Ekundayo Gilpin who is the major force behind the phenomenal transformation. Gilpin in a short but inspiring address said, “As a bank we have a mantra… everyone must have access to financial services. What you are witnessing here today is part of our drive to ensure everyone has equal opportunity and equal access to finance and these ATMs are our financial access points…”
The new ATM (which will operate at the same location with an Agency Banking outfit – the Rokel Simkorpor Kiosk) earlier installed is part an ambitious drive by the bank to install over 35 ATMs across the country – the largest-ever in Sierra Leone by a single bank. This unprecedented milestone is also a major component of RCBank’s Electronic Banking unsealing programme to expand, increase customer base and promote financial inclusion.
Gilpin furthered: “In life, everyone must have a vision, a dream whose actualization is driven by effort. We are changing the narrative about our country. We will showcase it as a progressive, digital and modern country where you can easily access financial services and do your business…”
