Dear Esteemed Colleagues,
Yesterday, 14th June 2025, we made history once again conducting a free, transparent, and democratic election. We showcased to the world that Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) stands as a beacon of integrity and unity. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all of us, and deep appreciation to Sierra Leone Association of Journalists Election Committee (SLAJEC) for their outstanding stewardship.
On behalf of myself and my campaign team, I am profoundly grateful for the honor of being elected as your National Secretary General. This isn’t just a personal achievement—it’s a call to serve, to advance the principles that define us: integrity, transparency, and progress.
The media is the heartbeat of democracy. It connects truth to society and safeguards informed public discourse. As your Secretary General, I am committed to working side by side with the executive and every member of SLAJ to ensure that our association remains a pillar of ethical journalism fostering professional growth and collective empowerment.
We will champion the rights of journalists and media practitioners, standing unwavering against censorship and intimidation. Our voices must remain fearless, independent, and protected and we will achieve that together.
To my fellow candidate, I extend sincere commendation. Your passion and dedication enriched this process, and I look forward to collaborating in unity for the good of our profession.
To my campaign team you were the engine behind this journey. Your dedication, creativity, and resilience were extraordinary. I’m proud of the work we’ve done and the ideals we stood for.
To every supporter: thank you for your trust, engagement, and belief in our shared vision. Your voices, energy, and votes made this victory possible.
Looking ahead, we must work in a spirit of inclusivity and action. We will embrace innovation, safeguard press freedom, and create new opportunities for the next generation of media professionals. This is *our* win each and every one of us who believes in the power of responsible storytelling and truthful reporting.
With humility and determination, I accept this great responsibility. Let us move forward together to build a stronger, more dynamic future for SLAJ.
The elections are behind us. Now is the time to unite, to respect one another, and to act in the common interest of our association.
