Workers at Leone Rock Metal Group have raised concerns over what they describe as discrimination, poor working conditions, and unfulfilled promises by management.
Speaking anonymously, a junior employee alleged that salary delays are common among lower-level staff, while senior employees reportedly receive their wages promptly every month. Although he acknowledged that different categories of workers are entitled to varying benefits, he maintained that the disparity has become excessive.
The worker further complained about unequal access to basic welfare supplies. According to him, senior staff members receive two bags of rice as part of their benefits package, while junior workers are excluded from the arrangement. He also questioned why senior employees are supplied with two large bottles of water daily, whereas junior staff are compelled to drink water stored in plastic containers in a company storeroom.
He claimed that the water occasionally has an unpleasant smell, but workers have no alternative source. He added that management had earlier promised to establish a water purification plant for staff use, but the project has yet to materialize.
The employee further disclosed that since workers were transferred to a separate entity known as Rock Wave about a year ago, no promotions have reportedly been processed.
A female employee also echoed similar concerns, stating that several commitments made by the company remain unmet. She noted that management has, for nearly two years, promised transportation support for workers, yet many employees still depend on heavy-duty trucks for their daily commute.
She further alleged that some Chinese staff members display aggressive behavior and treat female workers disrespectfully. According to her, attempts to report such incidents are often met with intimidation and threats. She also claimed that female employees were prevented from joining other women in commemorating International Women’s Day.
The aggrieved workers are now calling on the relevant authorities to investigate the allegations and ensure improved welfare and safer working conditions at the company.
