On February 16th, 2024, I visited the office of Liberty Online TV at Bathurst Street in Freetown, I was stunned by the extraordinary efforts of Kadija Bangura and Mabel Kabba, two young Sierra Leonean broadcasters, who have created an incredible broadcasting fountain.
This initiative is now transforming the media landscape in the country, offering a modern and well-maintained environment that rivals established television stations in the country.
Stepping into the newsroom was akin to entering a state-of-the-art command center. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, it showcased a seamless integration of digital tools for efficient news gathering and dissemination. The space they say was designed to foster collaboration and innovation, allowing the team to deliver timely and accurate news coverage to their viewers.
The control room at Liberty Online TV proved to be a testament to technological advancement. It housed an impressive collection of state-of-the-art equipment, diligently managed by skilled technicians. From video switchers to audio mixers, every aspect of the control room cried sophistication, guaranteeing a flawless transmission to the audience.
Venturing into the main studio, I found myself in amazement at its magnificence. Boasting impeccable design and meticulous attention to detail, it truly reflected the dedication put into creating a captivating visual experience. State-of-the-art cameras captured every angle while pristine lighting enhanced the on-screen presence of the hosts and guests. With strategically placed boom mics and a prominent television screen for monitoring live events, Liberty Online TV’s main studio was a spectacle to behold. Notably, the signature wall added a personal touch, allowing guests to leave their mark and further solidify the sense of unity within this exceptional broadcasting enterprise.
My visit to Liberty Online TV left an indelible impression of a disruptive force in Sierra Leone’s media landscape. With its classic infrastructure, advanced technological capabilities, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, Kadija Bangura and Mabel Kabba have laid the foundation for a truly revolutionary broadcasting platform.
