A cross-section of women from Abacha Street on Thursday paid a warm and respectful visit to former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma at his residence in Freetown to welcome him back home.
The delegation said the visit was to express their profound appreciation for Dr. Koroma’s years of service to Sierra Leone and his immense contribution to the growth and development of the All People’s Congress (APC).
Speaking during the meeting, the women reflected on his journey within the APC, from his service as Chairman and Leader of the party to his tenure as President of the Republic of Sierra Leone. They acknowledged the role he played in strengthening the party, providing leadership and inspiring generations of APC supporters across the country.
They also spoke about what they described as the impact of his administration on ordinary Sierra Leoneans. According to them, his contribution was not limited to APC supporters, but extended to citizens across political, regional and social divides.
“With heartfelt appreciation, we will remain grateful for his service and the opportunities his leadership created for many families and communities,” one of the speakers said on behalf of the group.
The women described Dr. Koroma’s return home as a significant moment for the APC and for those who continue to value his experience, wisdom and contribution to national politics.
The visit, they said, was not simply a homecoming gesture, but a public expression of respect, gratitude and recognition for a former President, party leader and statesman whose political legacy continues to resonate with many Sierra Leoneans.
In a brief statement at the end of the visit, the group concluded: “The APC remembers. The people remember. And history will continue to record the contribution of Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma to Sierra Leone and the APC.”
