A distressing case of child abuse has emerged from Tokpoi town Bo City, where an 11-year-old girl, identified as Kadie Williams, was allegedly subjected to horrific torture by her caregiver.
The incident, which was formally reported on February 3, 2026, involves allegations that Nafisatu Tarawally tied the young girl and poured scalding hot water over her, resulting in severe burns and open wounds.
According to local reports and preliminary investigations:
The Victim Kadie Williams, age 11, is currently receiving medical attention for her injuries.
The caregiver, Nafisatu Tarawally, is accused of restraining the child before intentionally inflicting the hot water burns.
The matter has been brought to the attention of the Bo East Family Support Unit (FSU) of the Sierra Leone Police, who are tasked with investigating domestic violence and child rights violations.
This case has sparked outrage among residents and child rights advocates in the region, who are calling for “Justice for Kadie” and stricter enforcement of the Child Rights Act of 2007. The Civil Society Organizations district team lead, and the Human Rights Committee lead have jointly collaborated with the Rainbow Initiative at the Ministry of Social Welfare in providing medical and psychosocial support to the victim while monitoring the case at the Bo East FSU to ensure the child’s safety.
The victim has already been referred to Connaught Hospital in Freetown for further medical attention.
