As the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent commence, the leading APC flagbearer aspirant, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura has extended his heartfelt wishes of peace, reflection, and spiritual renewal to Muslims and Christians across Sierra Leone.

According to him, he said this holy month is a special moment in our nation, where two great faith communities begin side by side journeys of devotion, sacrifice, prayer, and self-discipline, noting that our though and practices differ, but we share a common purpose: drawing closer to God, purifying the heart, and renewing our commitment to compassion, justice, and love for one another.

He said Ramadan and Lent remind us that sacrifice strengthens the spirit and deepens understanding. Through fasting, prayer, and charity, believers reflect on their blessings, show mercy to those in need, and reinforce the bonds of family and community.

Dr. Said these sacred observances call us to humility, forgiveness, and reconciliation. They challenge us to heal divisions, replace misunderstanding with dialogue, and build bridges of peace where distance once existed.

He however reiterated that Sierra Leone has long stood as a shining example of religious harmony. Muslims and Christians live as brothers and sisters, sharing celebrations, protecting one another’s places of worship, and standing together in times of joy and hardship. This unity remains one of our nation’s greatest strengths. As Ramadan and Lent begin, let us renew that spirit of togetherness and remember that our shared humanity is greater than any difference. Let faith guide us to choose peace over division, love over hatred, and hope over fear.

“This is also a time to pray for our country; for peace, justice, and fairness; for the well-being of our children; and for wisdom among our leaders. Even small acts of kindness can brighten a life and strengthen our society.

Let us remember those who are suffering, struggling, or feel forgotten, and may this season inspire generosity that uplifts the most vulnerable” he enthused.

Above all, he admonished Sierra Leoneans that  may Ramadan and Lent renew our hope; that peace will continue to prevail in Sierra Leone, that our unity will grow stronger, and that faith will lead us toward a future marked by dignity, justice, and opportunity for all. May this sacred season draw us closer to God and to one another?.
